Student Life
At Prichard Prep, we offer a number of unique classes, clubs, and organizations to encourage students to become leaders, excel in their classrooms, and learn the importance of being a part of something bigger than themselves.
Classes
Music
Prichard Prep offers a unique music program. At PPS, your child will learn vocal music and proper technique as well as instrumental music with Orff instruments and a piano class. With daily, music lessons, your child will able to hone and advance their musical talent. Beginning in 4th grade, Prichard Prep students can choose to learn to play percussion, brass, or woodwind instruments to form the PPS band. Every student at PPS has an opportunity to perform at our annual Christmas Extravaganza and other school performances.
technology
We believe technology is the platform students must have to achieve long-term success as it is now a part of our everyday lives and careers. Therefore, all of our students attend daily technology classes. Each 5th Grade student is provided an iPad for use during school to conduct research, complete and submit assignments, and enhance their technology skills. Pre-K4 and Kindergarten classrooms also have iPads for students to use for assessment testing. Students will learn how to code, use PowerPoint, send and receive e-mail, use proper etiquette, word processing and keyboarding.
spanish
PPS offers an introduction to Spanish class. Students learn the language through interactive skill development such as songs, games, and worksheets. Lower elementary students (Pre-K4 – 1st) learn commonly used phrases like family member names, numbers, colors, and animals. Pre-K4 students attend classes from 2nd – 4th quarter. In addition, Upper elementary students (2nd – 5th) also learn about holidays and customs observed in various Spanish-speaking countries.
Library
Prichard Preparatory School’s Library and Media Center is available to all students daily. Our media center includes reading materials and a computer lab for teaching technological skills such as keyboarding. The library houses over 6,800 books, and exceeds SACS requirements. Students are engaged in reading with open access to the library everyday. We utilize the Accelerated Reader program which measures reading and comprehension skills. In the media center, students can research topics of interest by using our statewide databases Alabama Virtual Library and Encyclopedia of Alabama. Through the STAR Reading and STAR Math assessments, we are able to identify individual needs and interests.
Physical education
Students take part in Physical Education daily. From playing on the playground, dancing, playing kickball, and even running track, Mrs. Byrd always keeps class fun and interesting! In P.E. students learn the basics of many sports including basketball, football, volleyball, and track. Mrs. Byrd works diligently with lower school students to develop hand-eye coordination, hand and arm strength, and team organization.
Chapel
Chapel takes place on the third Wednesday of every month. Students hear from guest speakers from across Mobile and Baldwin counties as well as their own teachers. This is just one of the many ways we instill Christian values in our students, along with Bible curriculum, teaching scriptures, and encouraging them to build a relationship with God.
Clubs and Organizations

The Prichard Prep Ensemble is comprised of 3rd – 5th grade students who are selected through an audition process each year. The Ensemble travels throughout Mobile County and other areas performing primarily during the month of December The Ensemble members serve as ambassadors representing our school and competing in elementary choir competitions.

Our Student Government Association (SGA) is elected by our students in 3rd-5th Grade. They elect a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Historian. Currently, our President is Brooklynn Howard, Vice President is Patrick McConico, Secretary is Dnaiel “Tryce” Davis, Treasurer is Kayleigh Jones, and Historian is Kinsley Bradley.
