PRICHARD PREPARATORY SCHOOL MISSION:
The mission of Prichard Preparatory School is to educate students academically, spiritually, and culturally, and to develop their character in preparation for their eventual pursuit of college degrees.
SUMMARY
The Director of Development provides overall direction, coordination, and implementation of Prichard Preparatory School’s fundraising, grants, and special events. This includes soliciting major gifts and new prospects (both individual and corporate donors) and cultivating long-running relationships in the community, as well as grant writing. This position is also responsible for actively marketing the organization to external stakeholders to increase its capacity to raise money, expand its funding base, and reach new constituencies. A significant portion of Prichard Prep’s contributions budget comes from the Alabama Accountability Act, so the Director of Development oversees this funding resource, including facilitating students’ applications for eligibility, managing the school’s account to secure timely funding, and soliciting donations from Alabama’s taxpayers by raising awareness about this opportunity.
In addition, the Director of Development is responsible for collaborating with the school’s senior staff and the Board of Directors in developing the fundraising strategies to achieve Prichard Prep’s annual financial goals. This position reports to the Principal and is a member of the Senior Administration Team of Prichard Prep which collaborates to drive the vision and development of the organization forward. This position also works closely with the Board of Directors and attends the monthly Board meetings.
This position is full time and requires 45 hours of work per week.
ABOUT PRICHARD PREPARATORY SCHOOL
Prichard Prep is a small Christian elementary school in Prichard, AL who helps children develop a strong academic foundation, with the goal of these children eventually attending college and becoming Mobile’s future leaders. The founding principle of Prichard Prep was to serve children whose parents could not afford tuition at other private schools in Mobile by providing them a heavily discounted tuition rate. Since many of the children at Prichard Prep come from unstable homes, employees at the school strive to provide a loving, compassionate, encouraging, Christian environment to help these children develop character and learn how to grow maturely. Prayer is central at Prichard Prep, and most employees consider their job at Prichard Prep to be a ministry, helping God’s children achieve success. Prichard Prep has many loyal supporters in the Mobile community who see this organization as an investment in Mobile’s future economic development and long-term improvement of the quality of life for all its citizens.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· In collaboration with the Senior Administration Team and Board of Directors, create sophisticated fundraising strategies and engage and educate the community about Prichard Prep through volunteer opportunities, school visits, etc.
· Secure financial support from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
· Identify new major donor prospects; develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors.
· Manage all fundraising activities and special events, including leading the Board in fundraiser support and soliciting sponsorships.
· Build and maintain positive relationships with local and national foundations: writing, submitting, and managing all grant proposals.
· Manage the receipt of funds from the Alabama Accountability Act and other governmental agencies, including coordinating with students’ parents about tax paperwork and applications.
· Work with the school’s Senior Administration Team, Board Treasurer, Board Chairman, and other members of the Board to develop the annual budget and track progress toward the annual fundraising goals.
· Maintain design of Prichard Prep’s website and growth of social media attention.
· Develop relationships with students and parents to help provide office support.

· An understanding of, and an ability to articulate, the mission and goals of Prichard Preparatory
School.
· The intelligence, maturity, and sound judgment necessary for interacting with donors, volunteers, community leaders and others from a wide variety of backgrounds.
· Ability to keep pace with technological innovation.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s Degree Required
· 3 plus years’ experience in Development or Sales
· Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and web design
· Prior experience working with non-profit organizations or school a plus.
Salary: From $40,000.00 per year
