VACANCY: Elementary School Teacher for the 23-24 School Year

REPORTS TO: Principal

HOURS: Full Time

PRICHARD PREPARATORY SCHOOL MISSION:

The mission of Prichard Preparatory School is to educate students academically, spiritually, and culturally, and to develop their character in preparation for their eventual pursuit of college degrees.

JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and issue educational content including notes, tests, and assignments.

  • Supervise classes to ensure all students are learning in a safe and productive environment.

  • Organize supplies and resources for lectures and presentations.

  • Deliver personalized instruction to each student by encouraging interactive learning.

  • Plan and implement educational activities and events.

  • Ensure your classroom is clean and orderly.

  • Prepare and distribute periodic progress reports and semester report cards.

  • Attend parent-teacher meetings.

  • Evaluate and document students’ progress.

  • Allocate and grade homework, assignments, and tests.

  • Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences.

  • Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives.

  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.

  • Exhibits positive human relations skills.

  • Evaluates the educational program and/or student progress.

  • Communicates with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community groups.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication.

  • Maintains and submits records and reports.

  • Adheres to Prichard Preparatory School rules, administrative procedures, board policies, and state and federal rules and regulations.

  • Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a valid Alabama Teaching Certificate in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education.

  • Requires a demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision, follow instructions, and use independent judgment.

  • Must have the ability and skills to operate microcomputers and standard office equipment, communicate clearly with the public and employees, work well with others, adhere to confidentiality policies, and organize and maintain accurate records.

  • Must be well groomed and have good grammar and spelling ability.

  • Must be a high school graduate from a regionally accredited school or have GED equivalent.

  • Must have knowledge of computer programs including spreadsheets (i.e. Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word or equivalent word processing and Outlook)

  • Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism regarding assignments and workplace matters.

  • Must provide own or have access to appropriate transportation to meet position requirements.

REQUIREMENT:

  • Applicants selected for the position must undergo an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by Prichard Preparatory School and State of Alabama Education Department) and be declared suitable and fit to teach under state law.
